About Dr. Jacinda Hernandez

Feeling overwhelmed by life's "mountains" like depression, anxiety, or past hurts? I get it—your journey is unique! I'm here to truly know you, offering personalized support and tools. Your mental health is my top priority; let's help you feel your best and reach your peak wellness!

Education and Training:

I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University — Fresno in 2016 after completing my undergraduate studies at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. I have experience in various community mental health settings—ranging from private practices, college campuses, and secure inpatient facilities—and have worked with diverse populations facing a wide array of mental health concerns.

I have specialized training in women's mental health and reproductive psychology, including certification in perinatal mental health from Postpartum Support International (PSI) and post-doctoral training in fertility and navigating reproductive loss. I also have a strong focus on supporting military service members and their families.

My Approach:

I believe that deep and sustainable growth comes from a collaborative effort, both within sessions and through your own exploration and practice in between. My approach to therapy is integrative and highly personalized, designed to meet your unique needs and presenting concerns. At the heart of all my work is client-centered support, meaning your individual experiences, strengths, and goals are always the central focus. This entails creating a warm, non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard, understood, and respected, empowering you to lead your own healing journey.

In addition to this foundational client-centered core, I draw upon a range of evidence-based approaches, including:

  • Attachment Theory: We explore how early relational experiences might shape your current patterns in relationships and self-perception, fostering insight and promoting healthier connections.

  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This practical approach helps you identify and modify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to distress, equipping you with concrete tools for change.

  • Interpersonal Process Theory: We examine how your interactions and relational dynamics impact your well-being, using our therapeutic relationship as a microcosm to understand and practice new ways of relating.

  • Inner Child Work: This involves gently exploring and connecting with younger parts of yourself that may have experienced unmet needs, emotional neglect, or trauma. By understanding and nurturing these "inner children" with compassion and validation, we can address root causes of current struggles, re-parent yourself with kindness, and foster a deeper sense of wholeness and emotional well-being in adulthood.

By weaving these modalities together, I tailor a flexible and dynamic treatment path that supports your specific goals and promotes lasting well-being.

If you're feeling a strong pull towards making meaningful and lasting changes in your life, and you're ready to actively engage in that process, then Summit Mental Wellness might be a good fit for you.

My goal is to offer expert resources and compassionate guidance, helping individuals embark on their journeys to a healthier mind within a supportive, non-judgmental environment.
